Founded as a concert series in 2008, Spring Awakening Music Festival eventually outgrew theater and was transformed into a two-day music festival held at Soldier Field in Chicago from 2012-2015. In 2019, it moved to Poplar Creek Music Theater just outside of the city, but its 2021 incantation once again has a Chicago address. Spring Awakening’s newest home is Addams/Medill Park, located just outside of The Loop. The “Largest Dance Music Festival” in the Midwest has five stages and over 80 EDM newcomers and legends perform each year. Spring Awakening is known for its elaborate stage production and pyrotechnic displays and live performers on stilts who comb the crowd while more dancers perform onstage.
