Pitchfork 2024 Dates Set For July

The 2024 Pitchfork Music Festival dates are set. This year, the popular Chicago summer festival will host its three-day experience from July 19 to 21.

The festival will take over its traditional setting, Union Park, for the third weekend in July.

This year marks the 18th edition of Pitchfork Fest, which curates a lineup of alternative music focusing on experimental, indie, pop, and hip-hop genres.

Pitchfork Music Festival debuted in 2006 and is organized by Pitchfork Media, a formerly independent music media company started in 1996 by Ryan Schreiber; Condé Nast acquired Pitchfork in 2015. Schreiber, Mike Reed, and Chris Kaskie founded Pitchfork Fest.

Over the years, Pitchfork Fest has been a platform for showcasing a diverse range of musical genres, reflecting the publication’s music coverage in terms of genres and artists, while also celebrating Chicago’s rich music culture and influence on the world.

Artists and bands that have gained notoriety through Pitchfork’s reviews are often featured, contributing to the festival’s reputation for showcasing cutting-edge and critically acclaimed artists.

The inaugural event, which took place at Union Park for two days, attracted an estimated 18,000 fans daily. The 2006 lineup included Destroyer, Hot Machines, Man Man, Os Mutantes, Spoon, The National, and Yo La Tengo, among others.

In 2023, Pitchfork Fest hosted 42 artists and bands as part of its lineup. Headliners included Alvvays, Big Thief, Bon Iver, Kelela, King Krule, Koffee, Perfume Genius, The Smile, and Weyes Blood.

Beyond the festival’s three stages and music lineup, Pitchfork Fest offers a unique space for exploration, emphasizing local vendors and art installations. Attendees can experience the city’s rich cultural tapestry through this carefully curated musical journey, making Pitchfork Music Festival a revered event that draws a diverse audience each year to revel in the sonic diversity and artistic spirit of Chicago.

Pitchfork Fest will announce its 2024 lineup and tickets at a later date.
