After several years of hiatus, Austin’s psychedelic music experience, Austin Psych Fest, is returning in 2023. The festival revealed its lineup on Thursday for its 15th-anniversary party.
LEVITATION, the brand behind Austin Psych Fest, is reintroducing the festival to the world at a single venue this year, The Far Out Lounge.
According to LEVITATION’s website, “2023 marks a return to the original single venue format and Spring timeframe with an intimate setting and two-stage lineup at South Austin’s The Far Out Lounge – an outdoor venue with a 100-year history.”
The Far Out Lounge was voted Austin’s Best New Music Venue in 2022 by the Austin Music Awards, and the original building’s history dates back to the 1920s when it was used as a hideout by the outlaw gang The Newton Boys. In the 1980s, it was home to biker bar Beverly’s, which Far Out Lounge pays homage to with the new bar.
This year’s festival, which is scheduled for April 28-30, features 24 artists and bands, including headliners Black Rebel Motorcycle Club (Saturday), Cuco (Sunday), and Toro y Moi (Friday).
“The lineup offers up an international slate of psych rock, dream pop, and indie rock, with a nod to the 1960s golden era and an eye toward the future. The trees, stage, and venue will be drenched and dripping in the liquid light of Mad Alchemy Light Show, and a host of Austin visual artists and collaborators.”
Tickets are on sale now and are available for single days or the entire weekend. Prices for single days and weekend passes start at $75 and $195, respectively, and can be purchased here.
For those traveling into town for the festival, Austin Psych Fest reserved room blocks at two hotels near the venue, Holiday Inn and TownePlace Suites, with special rates for each. Use the following links to access the specials.
