Country Thunder Saskatchewan traces its roots back to the early 1980s when it was known as the Big Valley Jamboree, which debuted in 1983 – this past year marked 40 years since its original inception. The festival was initially a modest gathering featuring local talent and creating a space for country music lovers to come together. As the years passed, the event navigated different ownership, branding, and even music genres – notably classic rock in the early 2000s – before it was eventually rebranded as part of the Country Thunder festival series in 2017, run by Premier Global Productions.
In addition to Country Thunder Saskatchewan, the series hosts experiences in Arizona, Florida, Calgary, Tennessee, and Wisconsin.
