A new type of experience is coming to the music festival circuit in 2023. Imagine Zero Music Festival will make its debut as a sustainable festival in Brandon, Vermont.
“Imagine Zero Music Fest’s mission is to create a festival that is zero carbon and zero waste,” states the festival’s mission statement. “That means having the show entirely powered by renewable energy and having no trash. We know it’s unlikely to get all the way there for now, but we think it’s worth a shot to try and see how close we get.”
The goal is to create an experience that has a long-term, positive impact on both humans and the planet.
Imagine Zero’s website provides a breakdown of the carbon footprint, an outline of how they tackle each area where waste is created, and their aspirations in creating the new festival.
Founders Ben Kogan and Cliff Johnson initially crafted the idea in the fall of 2022. Approximately six months later, they will host the first-ever, single-day Imagine Zero Music Festival featuring a lineup of eight indie, folk, and rock artists.
Kogan and Johnson hope “to bring people together to enjoy great music in a way that minimizes the impact on the environment and allows us all to learn together how to foster a better path forward for environmental stewardship.”
Imagine Zero Music Festival will be on May 13, 2023. Tickets are currently on sale for $50, and all ages are permitted. Children two and under are free.
