A brand-new dark wave, new wave, and post-punk music festival is coming to Huntington Beach, California.
Announced on June 20, Darker Waves Fest is a single-day event that will be held on the beach. Festivalgoers will be immersed in a “throwback to the 80s” experience featuring some of the genre’s most legendary and influential artists and bands.
English rock bands New Order and Tears For Fears will headline the inaugural festival.
Other prominent artists scheduled to perform include The B-52’s, Echo & the Bunnymen, DEVO, Soft Cell, The Psychedelic Furs, The Human League, Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD), and Violent Femmes, among others.
Darker Waves will also showcase contemporary artists inspired by the genre’s movement, including Kavinsky and Twin Tribes.
