Rainbow sax boy GRiZ threw a free party in Denver last weekend, and during his hour-long set, he announced that he will headline Meow Wolf’s Vortex festival in August 2023.
GRiZ and his team throw “Free Shows For The People” in various cities, usually with less than a 24-hour notice, to allow fans to get in on the action.
The most recent free show in Denver was hosted at The Junkyard, an empty space in an industrial park downtown.
“I wanted to give you all a chance to check out the space because we’ll be back here in August!” GRiZ shouted over the mic. He also made the crowd promise to pick up all their trash, and as fans left, not a piece of garbage was left behind.
The Junkyard is also home to Meow Wolf’s Vortex festival, returning for its second year this August. GRiZ’s stage featured a countdown to the August 25 date, yet to be confirmed by Meow Wolf.
Rising star Maddy O’Neal also played for an hour before GRiZ went on stage.
